ABOUT US
An international organization based in Harlem, our mission is to inspire, educate, and elevate the appreciation of jazz music through master classes, lectures, performances, and the creation of new music. Founded by renowned musicians, flutist Bart Platteau and pianist, Amina Figarova, JAZZ RISE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the world through jazz and original compositions. With deep roots in the jazz community, Bart and Amina, both celebrated artists in their own right, established this organization to expand their work with international youth choirs, to foster creativity, education, and cultural exchange within the realm of jazz music. We believe that jazz, as an ever-evolving art form, has the power to unite individuals from all walks of life, and our goal is to bring people together to explore its rich history while encouraging the creation of new, innovative works. Through a wide array of educational initiatives, concerts, workshops, and collaborations, we provide both emerging and established musicians with the tools and platforms to thrive. Our programs range from performance opportunities that showcase original compositions to educational resources that nurture the next generation of jazz musicians. By offering these unique opportunities, we aim to inspire a deeper understanding of jazz, its creative processes, and its influence on contemporary music. At the heart of JAZZ RISE is a commitment to community engagement. We strive to create meaningful connections between artists, students, and audiences, forging a shared celebration of music that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries. Whether through intimate workshops, large-scale concerts, or collaborations with other artistic disciplines, our organization works tirelessly to ensure that the transformative power of jazz reaches all corners of society.
